SDI Teams with Praxis Inc. for NRL Contract

SDI teamed with Praxis, Inc. to support the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) contract for Satellite, Communication, and Comprehensive Maritime Awareness Research & Development and Associated Services. The NRL awarded Praxis a contract to provide scientific, technical, and engineering support services for satellite, maritime, and communications systems. SDI is participating as a team member to provide software development, project planning services, and technical documentation efforts.

 

Tracking Firefighters with Chips

The New York City Fire Deptarment has been working with the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC, to develop transmitting chips for firefighters’ gear that will allow electronic tracking of firefighters on the scene of an emergency call. The chip would have to withstand the heat, smoke, and water found while fighting a fire. It would be activated when a firefighter boards a truck to respond to a call. Read more
